Firmware upgrade on T3-1

Post by cah »

Due to error message in /var/adm/messages, Oracle suggested to do a firmware upgrade.

New version is 3.0.16.9.a, build r76782, date Fri Nov 2 18:31:21 PDT 2012.

Code: Select all

SysFW Version: Sun System Firmware 8.2.2.b 2012/11/02 18:31
SP Hostname: ORACLESP-1047BDR269
Uptime: 0 days, 00:10:19
IP Address: 10.0.33.3
ILOM Version: v3.0.16.9.a r76782

I downloaded the latest firmware from Oracle and was trying to update it from command line (sysfwddownload) to SP (system processor) but it didn't work.

The web site (https://appzone01-ilom.ols.minimed.com/) used to work but was inaccessible and I had to reset the box to get the ILOM back.

Once I got the ILOM back, I was able to access the above link again. Funny thing is, Firefox didn't show any information. When I switched to IE, I was then able to maneuver around.

The most important function is upgrade firware (Maintenance -> Firmware Upgrade -> Enter Upgrade Mode).
Once I was able to get there, I uploaded (Sun_System_Firmware-8_2_2_b-SPARC_T3-1) and it took a few minutes to upgrade the firmware.

After the upgrade, ILOM got rebooted. After it came back, I was able to start the host from System Information -> Overview -> Host Power.

Once Host Power is ON, go to console (start /HOST/console). It sat on "{0} ok" prompt. Issue a boot command to start the server.

Code: Select all

{0} ok boot
appzone01 came up short after.
