Emulex Fiber Channel Card (HBA) on SUN FIRE 480

Last Friday (02/05/2010), I got a call from Seth Brua, a system admin from MN (Medtronic) asking for help in rebooting the server because it can not see the internal HDs.

I helped perform a few reboots, none helped.

Then, they asked for the help to remove one of the problematic HBA card (showing amber instead of green).
After removing it, the server was able to find internal HDs and booted up fine.

A good experience to know a bad fiber channel card can prevent the server from finding the bootable internal drives.
