Outgoing email issue
Posted: Tue Mar 29, 2016 5:51 pm
Starting today (03/29/2016), I could no longer send email out from hsiao.net.
I got bounced email like below:
I checked online and some say masquerade would help. I tried and the sender (cah@hsiao.net) would be changed to cah@verizon.net but it still didn't work. Apparently, something's changed in Verizon's mail server.
When I tried to check it by issuing "telnet localhost 55555" (stunnel to smtp.verizon.net), it showed "vz-proxy-l001.mx.aol.com":
The DNS has been changed to AOL's server:
Apparently, AOL's mail server is configured differently. I can no longer send email out from hsiao.net to AOL's mail server using non-Verizon email addresses (changanhsiao, cahtoh01, cahtoh03 and cahtohsm).
I will wait and see if Frontier (new ISP starting April 1, 2016) will allow email sent from hsiao.net after the transition completes in a couple of days.
I got bounced email like below:
