Non-Global Zone

Starting from SUN Solaris 10, SUN introduced the virtualization concept.
It uses one physical server to make multiple virtual servers.
Each virtual server has its own directory structure and root user.
This provides better utilization, flexibility and security to business.
The virtual server is called "non-global zone".
Each non-global zone is a separate entity just like physical servers.
Non-global zones can not see each other and have no access to others.
You may wonder, if there is the non-global zone, there might be global zone.
You are right!
Global zone is a zone to manage the physical server and can control all non-global zones.
Without zones configured, the global zone behave exactly like the old configuration without a difference.
In order to take advantage of the virtualization feature, I decide to add an additional NIC card for all zones.
I would have a chance to experience the virtualization configuration once I set it up soon.
