Shrink O'Matic

今天本來想找一些資料來寫個小程式用來縮小圖形檔以利放到網上(像是thumbnail).

找到一些資料, 像是Perl有一個Perl Module (Image::Magick)好像可以用來縮圖.

另外又找到了一個程式, 叫做Shrink O'Matic.
它是一個建立在Adobe Air上的一個應用程式.
可以縮圖, 也可以轉換圖形格式(JPG, GIF, PNG).

我抓了下來(含Adobe Air - Adobe Integrated Runtime), 發現蠻好用的.
我就不必自己寫程式了!

For some reason, it can not shrink some of the image files.

All pictures taken by PENTAX *ist DL and Casio EX-S880 can not be processed.

I will look into Photoshop and maybe other programs.....

Some people like ResizeIt but it is NOT free.
Free to try but it asks for $14.95.

Got a reply from the author.

There is a height and/or width limitation from Adobe Air and Flash 8/9.

The following article explains the limitation of Flash:

Flash 8/9's max pixel map: 2880 x 2880
Flash 10's max pixel maps: 4095 x 4095, 2048 x 8191, 8191 x 2048

I checked those failed to convert files and they all have either width or height over 2880 pixels.
That explains.

I checked with the author regarding Flash version.
I have Flash 10 on the computer but it still has the width or height limitation.

The author said AIR 1.1 has Flash 9 in it and it doesn't use the Flash on the computer.
That's why there's such a limitation.

Air 1.5 will include Flash 10 in it and should come out soon and this limitation will be expanded as mention above.

I downloaded AIR 1.5 but it still doesn't work.

The author said he needs to recompile his application before it would work.......

The new app had been developed.

I downloaded and tried to convert big image files and it worked fine.
